The Oregon Community College Association (OCCA) represents the seventeen publicly chartered community colleges and their locally elected board members. Founded in 1962, OCCA is an association whose purpose is to support the colleges before policy-makers and partners whose actions affect the well-being of community colleges across the state.

OCCA congratulates Class of 2026
June 10 - The Oregon Community College Association (OCCA) congratulates the thousands of students graduating from Oregon’s 17 community colleges this spring. Statewide, approximately 13,500 students will earn associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, certificates, and other credentials during the 2025-26 academic year.
OCCA responds to latest revenue forecast
May 20, 2026 - Oregon’s latest revenue forecast (released May 20) shows a $345 million increase, even as economists note that rising oil prices and a slowing economy could affect the outlook for 2026. The forecast highlights uncertainty tied to consumer spending, federal policy changes and inflation, underscoring the importance of a strong and responsive workforce system.
Community colleges to help fill teacher shortages with approval of new applied bachelor’s in education degree
Oregon’s community colleges are moving quickly to roll out a new pathway to Bachelor’s‑level education degrees, strengthening the state’s ability to grow its own educator workforce. Following the Higher Education Coordinating Commission’s April 9 approval of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Education (BASE), five colleges are approved to offer this degree beginning Fall 2027.
