- Community College Support Fund
The community college support was passed by the legislature at $450.5 million.
- Capital Construction Projects
The Legislature voted to fund 9 community college capital construction projects with Title XI-G bonds. Lottery revenue bonds will provide funding for five additional projects in capital construction, deferred maintenance and seismic upgrades.

May 15 Revenue Forecast The 09-11 state budget is forecasted to fall short by $3.8 billion. The gap is less than had been feared by many legislators, but there’s bad news, too. Lawmakers will still have find $350 million in cuts before the current two year budget period ends in June. [Read more here.]
The Budget and Revenue Forecast - 5/14/09 Oregon House leaders today outlined a set of priorities that will guide them through the final stages of balancing the state budget amid the global recession. Standing alongside three Oregonians who are fighting their own battles with the economic crisis, Speaker Dave Hunt, Majority Leader Mary Nolan and Ways and Means Co-Chair Peter Buckley said the House will continue to focus on accountability, job creation and fairness for working Oregonians to provide a balanced approach through the economic storm gripping the nation. The budget, Hunt said, will be balanced by a combination of budget cuts in excess of $1 billion, increased taxes paid by corporations and Oregon households making over $250,000 a year, federal stimulus dollars and the state’s savings accounts.Read the full press release here.
Oregon Stimulus Package - February 5, 2009 On February 5, 2009, Governor Kulongoski signed into law Senate Bill 338, the “Go Oregon” state stimulus plan. The plan authorizes $175 million in bonding to fund projects that will make needed repairs to schools, colleges, transportation infrastructure and address deferred maintenance projects across the state. The bill gives community colleges $53,566,600 for deferred maintenance projects.

Ways and Means Committee Hears from Community Colleges - February 11, 2009
The Joint Ways and Means Committee of the Oregon Legislature heard public testimony on February 11 regarding its proposal to fill a growing budget gap in the current biennium by cutting 5% from agency budgets. This cut would mean a $25 million reduction to the Community College Support fund and college leaders, union members and students all testified before the committee illustrating the consequences of such a cut at this late date in the biennium.
Each group carried the same message, arguing that community colleges act as first responders in an economic crisis and that such large cuts now would affect the people hit hardest by Oregon’s rising unemployment and the weak economy.
